Background

In early 2001 six merchants on Main Street in Franklin, Tennessee wanted to do something to generate more business in all the stores. Throughout the year, Franklin plays host to a variety of events, many of which are geared towards families and children. The six merchants hired Phyllis and Mike Hyland of Full Court Press Public Relations to come up with a way to increase customer traffic on Main Street. Out of their meetings was born Wine Down Main Street, an event for adults to sample wines from around the world and give patrons an opportunity to see all the wonderful merchandise available in the shops along historic Main Street.

The first Wine Down Main Street event in 2001 sold out all 500 tickets and more than $17,000 was raised for the Boys & Girls Club. Each year we’ve increase the number of tickets sold so that the event is now the largest ticketed charity event in Williamson County and continues to sell out every year. We are proud to report that in the eight years since its inception Wine Down Main Street has raised more than $700,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Franklin/Williamson County.

The most unique wine tasting event in the area, Wine Down Main Street has succeeded in presenting world class wines, bringing patrons from all over, including 20 states and many foreign countries, to enjoy Main Street Franklin and boosting the economy of the Main Street merchants with sales the night of the event and throughout the weekend.
